Best Movies of 2007

Published under Movies, Reviews.

Is it too late to write a post about my favorite movies of 2007? I hope not, because I’m about to do it.

I’ve watched and read a lot of lists from various critics, and the one difference between my list and theirs is that I’m only going to rank movies I watched, which means you’re unlikely to see a movie pop up that you haven’t heard of.

This also means that some Oscar contenders like “No Country for Old Men” aren’t on my list because I haven’t seen them. They may be awesome, but I’m not one to rank things highly just because they’re high-brow.

Lykaon’s best films of 2007, in ranked order:

1) Waitress

Some people don’t like this movie, but I can only assume they’ve missed the point.

2) Transformers

I know it’s not high brow, but it brought us what all of the threequels couldn’t.

3) Juno

Behind Transformers? Yes, behind Transformers.

4) Knocked Up

I know we’re in the era of the Apatow craze, but Knocked Up is really the only one that I’ve been a fan of.

5) I Am Legend

Legend is a great spooky film that really showcases how Will Smith can carry a movie.

For fun and controversy, I have another list of movies to share with you. In ranked order, here are Lykaon’s worst films of 2007 (without comments to save space):

1) Evan Almighty

2) National Treasure: Book of Secrets

3) Shrek the Third

4) Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix

5) Spider-man 3

Note: All of the titles link to my reviews of the films. You can’t really tell that they’re links, but they are – I promise!

    Dave,

I don’t take it personally, but that doesn’t mean I won’t argue about it. >:)

    Kerry,

No, I forget why now but back when I watched it I didn’t review it.
