Okay, so my review of the new Bionic Woman is a couple of days late, but it’s better than nothing right?
I don’t really know how to review this show to be honest.
I wanted it to be cool. I was hoping for a nice sci-fi comedy action drama show with lots to love.
In the end, though, I don’t think I’ll be watching past the pilot.
I’m not sure exactly where it went wrong for me.
Ultimately, it’s just not my type of show. I like a little humor in everything, and I like my sci-fi to actually have some faux science — not just gloss over it as if it’s poison to the audience.
In reality, the whole bionic angle is sadly just a macguffin to get a hot girl in tight clothes in the rain to fight stuff.
I like hot girls in fight scenes as much as the next guy (if not more), but it’s an emaciated plot for a weekly show.
Bionic Woman just doesn’t have much going for it.
Action was plentiful, but everything else was lacking. Without a good plot, some memorable characters, and a better tone, this show just can’t work.
If you read my latest Heroes review, you’ll see how much space I can take up with a good plot. Now look at the length of this post.
I don’t need to explain the plot. The shortest commercial will have already done it.
If you like to have your hot girls in tight clothes in the rain untainted by anything resembling a show, then this is your new favorite hour of the week.
For anyone who watches television for substance, though, it’s time to find something else to do with your Wednesdays.
I finally watched it last night. Verdict: for me, it’s a keeper. The relationship between the BW and the doctor was a bit odd, and the one with her and her sister is too predictable (although you know the sister will play a crucial part with her hacking skills). But I liked the tone, and I enjoyed seeing Miguel Ferrer and Katee Sackhoff in meaty roles.
Oh right, I totally forgot to mention little Miss ZeroCool. *eyeroll*
