The Fall

Published under Television.

So, without big hit movies to review I’ve been meandering through strange topics, pitting Einstein against Shakespeare and polarizing my readership with claims of Garth Brooks influence on American music.

Though I’ve had this blog for almost a year now, it didn’t really ‘heat up’ until the summer movie season started and I had actresses to talk about and movies to review.

So in an effort to keep it going I’m going to be transitioning into fall tv news and reviews. Since I don’t watch everything, I’m going to start with what I plan to watch this season.

It’s actually a pretty balanced list. I’ve got 2 reality shows, 2 sci-fi drama, and 2 comedies. The list is biased towards NBC, though, with 4 out of the 6 hailing from that network.

Two of the shows are untested and may fall off my list if they aren’t any good. The hype on Bionic Woman is pretty favorable at this point, though, so I have high hopes.

I don’t really watch all that much television and maintaining six shows sounds like quite the chore. I expect at least one will have to go in order for me to keep up with it all.

So, what are you watching? Are there shows that deserve a fair shake that I’ve excluded from my list?

  1. akaemi,

    Shout out for the dramas:
    ER
Grey’s Anatomy (and possibly Private Practice)
    Jericho
    Lost

  2. Hemisphire,

Technically, Lost (and 24 and Battlestar Galactica) shouldn’t be part of this because it’s not a fall show. No Simpsons or Family Guy love?

I’ll also be watching Heroes and Jericho, and will try Bionic Woman and Chuck. Also on my list to try:
    Journeyman
    Reaper
    Pushing Daisies
    Moonlight

  3. Davey,

I’ve got to mention Burn Notice. Not that it has anything to do with the list, being on USA and being a summer fill, but still. The show has some week points, namely a largely unatractive woman with an awful accent in the female lead role, but Bruce Campbell as a former spy now a tomcat for a sidekick more than makes up for it.

As far as whats getting ready to drop, I agree I’m trying Chuck, and Bionic Woman, and I’m considering Reaper only for the Kevin Smith connection. As far as leaning towards NBC, I say go for it. Have you seen what ABC is offering up new this season? A comedy based on Memento, a comedy based on a series of commercials, a comedy set during rush hour traffic, and dramas I have nothing in common with, not being a high powered anything.

  4. halfling,

Being simple I’ll stick with SG-Atlantis, Monk, Psych, Eurika. Burn Notice has me for now-largely unactractive woman? Physically unactractive and psychologically scary character. Especially when sounding like a leprechaun.

  5. Lykaon,

    It is a proven fact.

There is nothing more terrifying than scary leprechauns.

  6. Hemisphire,

Ok, if summer’s still an option, I’ve been watching Eureka (really enjoying that), Doctor Who, and the Black Donnellys.

And I also started watching Torchwood (Doctor Who spinoff), and continue watching Star Trek: Enterprise (now on season 3), both on HD.NET.
