This week in Cryptid Corner, we focus on cryptids that Dr. Carl Baugh believes exist. I’m not going to pretend that Dr. Baugh is mainstream. I’m also not going to pretend that you know who he is.
Dr. Carl Baugh is a … scientist(?)… who runs and owns the Creation Evidence Museum in my hometown, Glen Rose, Texas.
He’s dedicated his life as an …archaeologist(?)… trying to uncover evidence that man and dinosaurs co-existed and that earth is much much younger than modern science would have you believe.
Instead of cold hard facts (I’m not sure Dr. Baugh has any of those anyway), I’m going to relate what I learned growing up in a town where hearing his theories were not uncommon.

First off are the Pterodactyls. Since man and dinosaurs co-existed, obviously some dinosaurs must still exist right? Despite the fact that no one has ever found them, Dr. Baugh firmly believes that the Pterodactyl is alive and well in Papua New Guinea.
He always told an amusing story about trying to obtain a permit to import a live Pterodactyl into the US.
Legend has it that when he asked for said permit he was put on hold for an inordinate amount of time before his reply came, “Ok, sir. The Pterodactyl isn’t on our endangered species list, so we will grant you your permit.”
Then there are dragons. Although I don’t think he believes that dragons currently exist, he does believe that they did — or rather, fire breathing dinosaurs did.
Afterall, where did all of those dragons in the writings of man come from if not their back yards?
I’m not sure what other cryptids he’s chasing these days. I’m sure he fully believes in Mokale Mbembe as well — if you’ve got Pterodactyls, obviously there must be sauropods.
Is Dr. Carl Baugh chasing real live creatures? He certainly hasn’t proven it if he has, but he’s an awfully charismatic fellow who can weave a darn good tale.
Although he doesn’t call himself a Cryptozoologist, this post goes out to Dr. Carl Baugh — champion of dinosaur rights.
