Having written my review and prognosticated its success before reading the entertainment news for the day, it looks like I was wrong about Fantastic Four when I said:
“…I think that’s why the first one found a niche and this one will too. It won’t make the money of its predecessor, but don’t be surprised to see this one do well enough to warrant another.”
Turns out it actually made more than the first movie this past weekend, raking in $57.4 million.
At $1.4 million more than the first, I have to say that I’m surprised. I expected a much bigger drop off after the critical reception that the first movie received.
