I play World of Warcraft. I enjoy it. I’ve spent countless months working up a character to the coveted level 60, slaving away. And I’m a rogue…

Let’s just start by saying everyone hates rogues. We can stealth, we can backstab people (apparently since we can do it literally we must also do it figuratively), we do massive damage, and we get ourselves killed … a lot. Such is the life of a rogue. No one trusts you, no one likes you, but everyone needs at least a few of you.

One of the skills a rogue has is lockpicking. It’d be pretty handy if there were actually dungeons in the game that required the skill for progression, but there aren’t any. GG Blizzard. So basically the only role lockpicking serves is to open lockboxes that people get off mobs around Azeroth…

And here we land at my problem. Why do people feel that its okay to shove a lockbox in my face and expect me to open it? Has typing become such a hassle that they simply cannot work up the strength to ask me first? Is it possible that I have other things to do? Is it possible I’d appreciate some common courtesy?

Sometimes this happens while I have other windows open, closing them all. Sometimes people do it over and over again as if I accidentally closed the window without opening their lockbox. News Flash: That wasn’t an accident – that was me protesting you being a butthead.

I’m not your personal lockpicking service. I don’t have a van, I don’t have a slim jim, and I sure as hell ain’t making no money… So if you want me to lockpick a box for you just ask first. I’m a reasonable guy. It takes no time or effort on my part. So just a quick “/w Jynna Could you please open my lockbox?” would really make me feel a lot better about my lot in life as a villified rogue. You don’t even have to pay me, though compensation is always nice.

You might just find that I’m fun to talk to.

  1. Alcuin Bramerton,

You are connected to cyberspace. Prepare to communicate with The Others.

  2. Lykaon,

Exactly. People should communicate with me BEFORE they shove a lockbox in my face. Glad you see my point. :)
